Zotero should insert the formatted citations used in your manuscript. When you have completed your manuscript, position your cursor where you would like to insert your formatted references and click Add/Edit Bibliography. A dropdown menu will appear listing a few options. Here you should see a button labeled Insert Citation. From the classic view, you would then click on your desired reference and click the OK button. At any point (although you may want to wait until you need to insert your first citation) bring your mouse up to the menu bar and click on the References tab. If you would rather scroll through your Zotero library, you can use the drop down menu next to the Zotero icon to switch to classic view. Microsoft Word produces bibliographies for the most common academic style guides - MLA (Modern Language Association), APA (American Psychological Association), Chicago and Turabian. If you know any details about the reference you want to insert, such as author name, you can start typing it into the box and Zotero should start pulling up a list of choices that you can click on and insert in your paper (see first picture below). Use these objects, and additional properties and methods in the Word object model, to add sources to the source lists, cite sources in a document, and manage sources. You do have to open your Zotero desktop client first before you can insert citations into your Word document. (If your citation does not appear in the drop-down list, return to step 7, above.) 10.
